I'll always remember Tom by his very unique sense of humor and quick whit. This story goes back to his high school days, but I was out with the Kellers at the Coliseum for some reason, and Tom and Mr. Keller were getting into an argument about something in the car. There were at least two or three times where Tom could have backed down and not gotten in that much trouble, but he kept firing back smart allic comments to which Mr. Keller said "Tom, you're digging yourself deeper and deeper into a hole." Tom didn't even take a second to think before he fired back "Well I have a special ladder" in a very matter-of-fact tone. I'm not sure what happened after that but Joe and I sat in the back of the car cracking up at Tom's quick comeback. I'm not sure why this story sticks out in my mind but I think it's a really good example of Tom's relentless personality and great whit.
